Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
If you have concerns for your child's development or have received a referral for speech, swallowing, feeding, oral motor, voice, articulation, language, or fluency therapy... you are in the right place! Please contact me at alexis@blarneytherapycenter.com or call us at 215-416-4020 to schedule your evaluation.
The evaluation typically takes 1 hour. During this time, the child's medical history, ongoing concerns, observation, informal, and formal assessments as warranted will all be completed. Formal assessments typically consist of standardized test measures that provide scores to allow us to compare your child's performance to a large standardized group of same-age peers. The speech language pathologist will gather all data needed to formally write an evaluation report that will be used to initiate services, if warranted. The evaluation report includes the child's medical history, subjective and objective data, recommendation for therapy, the frequency they are expected to receive services, and all goals that will be targeted throughout therapy.
Each treatment session is individually designed to best meet the needs of your child. Blarney Therapy Center uses child-led and play based therapy approaches to target their goals in the environment that would be most naturalistic to them.
At this time, the practice is private pay only. However, some insurances may reimburse you for services rendered, depending on your coverage. All pricing for services will be provided in advance with adherence to the Good Faith Estimate Act. Charges are collected prior to receiving services and can be paid per visit.
We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. We ask that families respectfully let us know if they need to change or cancel an appointment at least 24 hours in advance so the therapist has adequate time to offer services to another client during that time period. If the appointment is cancelled less than 24 hours prior or the appointment is a no show, a $50 fee will be charged for treatment sessions or $100 charge for evaluations. Of course, we understand that life happens! If there is a medical emergency, ongoing weather, or other urgent matter, please let us know and the therapist will work with you!
Treatment sessions are scheduled as recurring appointments on the same day and at the same time each week unless the family schedules them otherwise due to availability. Treatment Sessions are typically 45-50 minutes in length. At the end of each session, the family will be educated on their child's progress, as well as a home exercise program that can be implemented to practice at home.
Depending on your child’s needs, treatment will be recommended 1-3 times weekly. Research in our field indicates shorter sessions at a greater frequency yield better outcomes.
The frequency and duration of treatment will vary depending on your child’s needs/diagnosis, how well your child responds to treatment, and how often you are practicing at home. The more you practice at home, the quicker the child can expect to make progress to be discharged from therapy.
While we accept parent referrals, a prescription from a doctor/specialist is typically required to submit any insurance claims and qualify for any reimbursement of the services rendered. Receiving a prescription also allows your child's medical team be aware of the ongoing concerns and services their patient is receiving. If you plan to submit a claim to insurance, a prescription is required at the evaluation in order to be able to process the documentation and provide you with a statement. If the evaluation takes place before a prescription is received, insurance may not cover the cost of the evaluation as we cannot back-date reports. It is important to check with your insurance to see if a prescription or referral is necessary prior to seeking services.
